My Favorite Footballer- Ronaldinho

Football is a beautiful game. But there are very few players who make the game easy on the eye. In that list, Ronaldinho’s name is sure to pop up almost every time. Ronaldinho is an attacking mid-fielder who plays for Brazil. Even as a young boy his outrageous talent was so obvious that he was signed by the French club Paris St. Germaine. It was here that he started exhibiting his stunning skills. He got picked for the Brazilian national team as a teenager. His moment of glory came in the 2002 World cup in South Korea and Japan where Brazil went onto win their Fifth World Title. He formed a deadly combination with the great Ronaldo and Rivaldo who tore apart the opponents in the tournament. His performance did not go unnoticed as he was signed by Barcelona for a whopping fee.

With his trademark smile and dazzling array of tricks with the ball, he quickly became the cynosure of the Catalan supporters. During this time, he went on to win the FIFA World Player of the year and European player of the year awards, a rare feat indeed. He helped Barcelona win their Domestic competitions and also the Champions’ League. A string of injuries and poor form forced Ronaldinho make a move from Barcelona to AC Milan. Although he was unable to retain his form of his glorious days, Ronaldinho will always be remembered as a player who played with a smile on his face and also brings a smile on the faces of the people who watched him play. Long live - the beautiful game and the player who made the game even more beautiful.
